Jamaat calls hartal

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami called a countrywide first light to-nightfall hartal for Wednesday challenging at the Appellate Division decision maintaining capital punishment of its pioneer Mir Quasem Ali for wrongdoings against mankind in 1971.

A five-part Appellate Division seat, headed by boss equity Surendra Kumar Sinha, on Tuesday gave the decision on the claim of Mir Quasem against his capital punishment.

On 2 November 2014, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 sentenced the Jamaat-e-Islami pioneer to death for his wrongdoings against humankind amid the Liberation War.

On 30 November 2014, Mir Quasem Ali documented the bid with the SC testing capital punishment.
